MBDC cradle to cradle
Administered by McDonough Braungart Design Chemistry (MBDC), Cradle to Cradle
certification is one of the most stringent product sustainability certifications
in the world. To achieve Cradle to Cradle certification, a product must be designed
and constructed so that it can be disassembled and remade back into itself at the
end of its useful life. The ingredient materials of Cradle to Cradle certified products
must also pass rigorous toxicity and human health and environmental assessments down to
100 parts per million to ensure the product exerts the least possible impact.
NSF 140
The National Science Foundation NSF 140 sustainable certification is the first
multi-attribute American National Standards Institute (ANSI) approved environmental
standard for carpet in the US. NSF 140 evaluates multiple product attributes over
the entire lifecycle of a product. The standard covers durability, recycled content,
carpet recovery programs, and lifecycle impact reductions such as emissions, energy
and waste, among others. download pdf
CRI green label plus

indoor air quality. Designed to ensure customers are purchasing the very lowest
emitting products on the market, the program uses scientifically established
standards. The Green Label Plus program symbolizes the carpet industrys

Developed by the United States Green Building Council, the Leadership
in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System
is an internationally recognized green building certification that
provides third-party verification that a building or community was designed
and constructed using strategies designed to minimize environmental
impact and maximize energy savings, water efficiency, GHG emission reduction,
indoor environmental quality and resource stewardship. LEED certification
is awarded to buildings and communities at the Certified, Silver, Gold
and Platinum levels based upon the number of "LEED points" the project
accrues. For more information, visit www.usgbc.org/LEED.
