Beyond an environmentally and socially responsible approach to product design, Cradle to Cradle Certified™ is one of the world’s most rigorous product sustainability certifications.
Based on the outcome of a third-party assessment, a product may receive one of five levels of certification: Basic, Bronze, Silver, Gold or Platinum. There are hundreds of Cradle to Cradle Certified™ products on the market today, and the Cradle to Cradle Certified standard provides a framework for designing and manufacturing healthy and sustainable products.

- Material Health
Each of our ingredient materials are assessed to ensure they are safe for not just the environment, but for the people who live, work and play on our flooring. Every ingredient that represents at least 0.01% (one-hundredth of one percent) is evaluated against 24 risk factors for human and environmental health.
- Material Reutilization
Focused on the elimination of waste, our Cradle to Cradle certified products are fully recyclable. In fact, each of our EcoWorx carpet tile products list the number to call for 500 yards or more of carpet to be picked up and recycled at no charge.
- Renewable Energy
Increasing our energy efficiency and expanding our use of energy from renewable sources is one of the central elements of Shaw’s corporate environmental responsibility strategy. The solar panel installation on the roof of our commercial carpet tile manufacturing facility in Cartersville, Georgia is an example of our commitment to greater use of renewable energy. One of the largest commercial solar photovoltaic installations in the Southeast, the one megawatt system produces approximately 1.4 million kilowatts of power annually – the equivalent of powering 100 US homes.
- Water Stewardship
When it comes to water, every drop matters. That’s why we keep close watch on every ounce of water we use for our operations – and the reason we’re always exploring new opportunities to recycle water, reduce water consumption, and ensure water quality. And even though Shaw has already achieved significant water reductions over the past decade, it’s our goal to reduce water intensity by an additional 50% by 2030.
